Dear Diary,
This entry is a rather special piece and if it just touches and inspires one person, my heart will be so full. Regardless of personal hurdles, self-care is vital! Overcoming pressure of trying to balance a full-time job and intense studies for three years deeply impacted me. My life became about the work and not about taking care of myself both mentally and physically. Small sacrifice for a big reward-WRONG! We only have one life, yes, but along the way, we have to realize that if you don't find a balance you will burn yourself out or just simply find yourself unhappy.

Once the "storm" started to calm, I realized that if I couldn't escape the country as much as I use to, then I'll make it my MISSION to travel to celebrate another year of life! #MayBaby #GeminiSeason
I figured while spreading some love and motivation, of course, I'd have to tell you about my Panamanian adventure, what I did, things I recommend, things to avoid, etc. - Your personal STYELLE Travel Guide:

WHY PANAMA?
I got tired of typical cliche vacation destinations and wanted to experience a different part of the world that you never really hear people travel too. I am big on history and learning about different cultures, so that is what initially captivated my attention. For three years I kept Panama in my back pocket and it was not until I travelled to Jamaica in 2015 that I discovered that my great-grandmother was Panamanian - talk about coincidence!
WHAT WE DID?
Aside from relaxing on the resort, when surrounded by the natural beauty of the tropical rainforests and the history, it's a must to go on adventures. Our driver who brought us to our resort from the airport offered to take us on a city tour. The love and enthusiasm he had showing us around and talking about all Panamanian history and how far they have come, especially with the Canal completely filled my heart with so much joy.
- Old City
- New City
- Almador Cost Way
- Canal locks
The highlight of our trip was the jungle excursion. We began with an amazing boat ride through the Canal where we saw crocodiles, a sloth, and had a phenomenal experience at Monkey Island where we had the pleasure of feeding monkeys, whilst on our way to a boathouse. The boathouse was located in a secluded part of the Canal. I couldn't believe how big it was-filled with hammocks and lawn chairs to soak up the sun on the roof and a diving section. I could have spent my entire trip there. Even when it rained it was just so peaceful. After the hosts provided us with lunch, we had the option of going fishing or kayaking - I chose the latter. Let me just say that Kayaking is definitely not as easy as it looks and I was very frustrated with my partner at first but we eventually got the hang of it. Our guide lead us to a private fall. It was such a magical experience and a bonus that we met such nice people from around the world.
RECOMMENDATIONS
- Try and book during non-rainy season, if possible (December to late April). You will still have an enjoyable time if you are not able to since the $ will increase.
- Try and plan your activities for the week in advance.
- Book a sightseeing day to the ferry and visit the surrounding islands.
- Book at least 1 excursion into the rainforests. I promise you won't regret it.
- If you are travelling to the Pacific coast side, try and split part of your trip so that you may visit the Caribbean sea side of the country. One suggestion that was made was to visit Bocas Del Toro. Sadly, we did not have the time, but I will definitely be including this in my travel plans next time around.
