Forgive my time away! SO many exciting things have been going on and I am so happy to now be able to start dishing the juice...
I recently attended the Rebel in Beauty by Allied Beauty Association at the Toronto Metro Convention Centre for beauty professionals. It was such an amazing experience to meet all those passionate people and also learn a few new hair techniques myself. But why I was there...
....was because I received an email from DevaCurl for a casting call for hair models. I have been using their products for three years now and could not pass on the opportunity to experience my very first DevaCurl hair transformation. If you are a curly girl you may have already heard of a "DevaCut", which is their signature styling method where they cut/trim your hair dried! I personally find that this method gives your hair better shape and more volume since it's cut where the curls fall naturally.
Although everyone's hair is different, it was so awesome to have the opportunity to essentially learn all about what our curls need, lack, new products they introduced and most importantly, techniques for managing frizz! That is a HUGE concern of mine and I am sure many other curl guys and gals.
SO...WHAT DID THEY DO?
WASH
- Preclean: Started off with a pre-cleanse using a new product 'Wash Day Wonder'. Curls=knots and tangles, and this product has a lot of slip and allows your fingers to glide through your curls, while also strengthening your curls.
- Shampoo: No-Poo Decadence
- Conditioner: One Condition Decadence - By far my favourite conditioner. It's extremely moisturizing and brings curls back to life.
- Treatment: Heaven in Hair - My hair is colour treated so it lacks a lot of moisture. 'Heaven in Hair' treatment gives an intense boost of moisture, allowing your curls to pop and shine once styled.

STYLE
- An important technique to reduce frizz for curly hair is styling soaking wet hair - Why? Using your desired styler on wet hair allows the product to better absorb while retaining moisture.
- The first styler that was used was the 'Super Cream Coconut Styler'. The styling raked the product through my hair gliding through my curls.
- Next was the 'Ultra Defining Gel'. What I love about this product is that it holds curls, reduced frizz, and does not leave a hard cast once dried.
*Scrunched product with hands and lightly with DevaTowel*
*Sat under the dryer for 40 minutes + Diffuser*
DEVACUT
- Once my hair was dry, the stylist trimmed my curls to fit the frame of my face AND also gave me curly bangs - LOVED...
All in all it was an amazing experience and I'm truly thankful to DevaCurl. I love the way my hair came out! My curls were extremely soft and full of life. I was even more impressed with my day 2 & 3 curls, volume and texture. I've been using the methods and techniques I've learned and can honestly say that my curls have never been as soft, full of volume and less frizz - WINNER!
I hope you enjoyed this piece! Feel free to reach out if you want to know specific details about my experience or comment below.
Until next time lovelys...
