Dear Diary,
For years, I would texturize my hair on and off so that it would it be more manageable. Although it was easier to handle, I missed my curl definition and volume my hair used to have. I remember when I was in university and natural hair care videos just started to boom, I would watch endless natural hair journey and routines. I was not use to seeing many women of colour with such long beautiful hair; it was so inspiring! From that moment on, I decided to stop damaging my hair with chemicals and commence my natural hair journey.
I tried doing Bantu Knots for the first time and to my absolute surprise they came out great for a newbie, if I do say so myself. I used Entwine Couture's "The Manipulator Creme Jelle Styler" as my styler. I first came across this line by my girl Natural Neiicey, who has amazing YouTube tutorials for natural hair. What I love most about this product is that it's hydrating and really defines my curls. Practice makes perfect, so for anyone just starting their natural hair journey, don't give up, be patient, and research products. Remember, everyone's hair is different, so what may work for one person, might not work for another. The good thing is you get great ideas from YouTube and online research.
I must say, after unleashing the Bantu Knots, the end result made me feel so empowered, boosting my self-confidence. I know many people reading this, not just naturalista's, can relate to the fear of being judged by the way you look or how you dress. But I'll say this, FIGHT to find that power within. Ignore social media and what you THINK you should look like or how you should dress. Love and embrace you! You're beautiful inside and out.
